History

The Takeuchi family has been operating on this Miyajima site for generations, originally as a marine supplies store serving boats visiting Itsukushima Shrine. Established as a ryokan in 1912, Kinsuikan is now in its 5th generation. The current generation made history by restoring onsen to Miyajima after a 30-year absence, drilling to discover a fresh source of natural Shioyu (saltwater) hot spring water - making Kinsuikan one of only three ryokan on the island with its own natural spring source.
