About

Nazuna Kyoto Tsubaki St. occupies an entire L-shaped alley of machiya townhouses in Shimogyo ward, about 1,400 square metres of buildings more than 110 years old. The 23 houses became 23 guest rooms, each with a private semi open-air bath. There are 9 twin rooms in the Take and Mizu categories and 14 deluxe rooms in the Iwa, Hana and Ha categories, named for bamboo, water, stone, flower and leaf. The stone-paved lane between them is lit at night. The baths are not fed by hot spring water; this is a city ryokan, not an onsen. Breakfast options include dashi chazuke and a Western breakfast, and the on-site restaurant Wagyu Ryotei Bungo serves kaiseki-style courses. Omiya Station on the Hankyu Kyoto Line and Shijo-Omiya on the Randen Arashiyama Line are about five minutes on foot, and Kyoto Station is about ten minutes by taxi.
