About
Yumoto Itaya is a 24-room inn at Yumoto Onsen, the highland village at 1,478 metres in Nikko National Park beyond Lake Chuzenji, where the springs were by tradition found by the monk Shodo in 788 (IKYU, Navitime). The inn has run for more than 250 years. Its baths are free-flowing milky-white sulphur water, among the most concentrated in Japan. Rooms are Japanese-style and Western twins. In winter the village is under snow and the bath is the point; in summer it is the cool base for the Senjogahara marsh walks. Tobu-Nikko Station is about 80 minutes by bus.
