About
Homeikan is a family-run ryokan of about 50 rooms across several wooden buildings in Hongo, the old university district north of Tokyo Station. The main building, the Honkan, has been in the family for more than a century and was registered as a Tangible Cultural Property in 2000, the first lodging in the Tokyo area to be listed (Frommer's, Japanican). The Daimachi annex across the street was built as the family home after the war. Rooms are tatami with futon and shared baths; the inn has long been a retreat for writers. Hongo-Sanchome Station on the Marunouchi Line is about five minutes on foot.
