About
Yuen Shinjuku is a large onsen inn of around 190 rooms, listings differ, on the edge of Shinjuku Gyoen, opened in 2019. Its 18th-floor open-air bath is filled with hot spring water trucked in from Tsutsuji no Yu near Lake Ashi in Hakone (IKYU, Pendulum Magazine). The tubs are small, three or four bathers at a time, and the view is the Shinjuku skyline. Rooms have tatami floors and shoji; the baths in the larger rooms are ordinary heated water, not onsen. There is a restaurant and a tea counter on the ground floor. Shinjuku-Gyoenmae Station is about five minutes on foot, Shinjuku Station about fifteen.
